This information is used to ensure the data recorded in the Shooters and Firearms Easy Registration (SaFER) system is accurate and up-to-date and provides sufficient detail for each firearm to be assigned a National Firearms Information Database (NFID) template as part of the integration into the National Firearms Register.

Personal information is information by which a person’s identity is reasonably ascertainable. This can include a person’s name, age, gender, residential address, contact details, sensitive information, and health information.
Why is your personal information being collected?
The Northern Territory Government is collecting, holding, using, verifying, sharing and/or disclosing your personal information provided in this form for the following purposes including:
- ensuring compliance with legislative requirements to record all firearms registered in the Northern Territory in the SaFER system;
- ensuring that firearm data within the SaFER system is accurate, up-to-date, and compatible with national standards;
- assigning a NFID template for each firearm as part of the integration into the National Firearms Register in accordance with national standards;
- liaising with you regarding this form or any related matters;
- meeting reporting obligations within the Northern Territory Government and its agencies, to members of the Northern Territory Parliament, and/or to relevant authorities;
- for a related secondary purpose; or
- as otherwise required or authorised by law.
What information do we collect?
The Northern Territory Government collects personal information about you when you engage with us, including by using and submitting this form on the NTPF website or submitted on your behalf via a member of the NTPF. Personal information we collect from you includes but is not limited to:
- information about your identity, such as your full name, firearm licence number, and contact details (including your email address, daytime contact number, and mobile number);
- information about the firearms you hold associated with your firearms licence (firearm serial numbers etc.);
- any information contained in identity documents, for example, your driver’s licence, firearms licence or passport (if required);
- your response to any questions, declaration(s) and/or any other details necessary for this form (if required);
- any additional information required to meet obligations under the Firearms Act 1997 (NT), national agreements, or related legislative requirements; and
- any feedback you provide.
What would happen if your personal information was not collected?
If you choose not to provide your information, the Northern Territory Government will not be able to process your form and members of the NTPF may have to attend personally to inspect, at any reasonable time, your facilities for the storage and safe keeping of the firearms in your possession and complete this form on your behalf as authorised under the Firearms Act 1997 (NT).
To whom will your personal information be disclosed?
The Northern Territory Government will only use and disclose your personal information for the purposes for which it was collected or otherwise as permitted by the Information Act 2002 (NT). Your personal information may be disclosed and shared within the Northern Territory Government and its agencies. If required, the Northern Territory Government may make enquires of and exchange your information with other agencies in accordance with national agreements, including the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, Australian Federal Police, Australian Border Force and other State and Territory policing bodies as required.
