The NT Emergency Management Symposium provides an opportunity for members within the emergency management sector to come together to share knowledge, challenges, seasonal outlooks and potential risks of relevance to the NT.
This event typically runs bi-annually and is proudly supported by NT Fire and Emergency Services, NT Police Force and the Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet.
The 2026 NT Emergency Management Symposium will be held on 15 October at the Darwin Convention Centre.
The one-day symposium will bring together stakeholders from government, non-government, private and research organisations to enhance collaboration and build a shared understanding of roles, responsibilities and emerging risks.
Attendees will enjoy the opportunity to strengthen professional networks and partnerships, enabling more effective coordination before, during and after emergencies.
Program
The 2026 theme is ‘Lessons that shape us: Learning from the past, preparing for the future’.
The symposium program will be released in August and focuses on the issues of the day in emergency management, it aims to identify gaps, promote innovation and encourage cross-jurisdictional learning.
Speakers at the symposium represent a wide breadth of emergency management knowledge and experience.

Due to limited spaces, those who would like to attend must register an expression-of-interest form, with their ticket being confirmed in August 2026.
A link to register your interest will be published shortly.
The event will be broadcasted virtually to allow for people to join online if they did not receive a place in the symposium or they cannot travel to Darwin.

- 2024 NT Emergency Management Symposium
The NT Emergency Management Symposium 2024 was held on 27-28 November in Darwin, with over 200 delegates at the event, and 45 online.
The event featured speakers from the National Emergency Management Agency, Natural Hazards Research Australia, the Queensland Reconstruction Authority, and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services of Western Australia, as well as breakout sessions with the Bureau of Meteorology and the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience.
