Arrest – Domestic violence – Alice Springs

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 32-year-old male in relation to a domestic violence incident that occurred in the early hours of this morning in Alice Springs.

Around 1:20am, the 32-year-old male allegedly physically assaulted his female partner while inside a LDV T60 Max utility that was stopped at a convenience store on Todd Street.

The victim was holding an 11-month-old at the time of the assault. When she exited the vehicle with the child and walked towards the store, the offender allegedly accelerated towards them, missed them narrowly and crashed into the store’s entrance. The offender fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The infant was uninjured during the incident. The victim was conveyed to hospital for assessment with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police subsequently attempted to intercept the vehicle in Braitling, however the pursuit was terminated for safety reasons.

At 6:25am, the 32-year-old was located and arrested on the Stuart Highway south of Ti Tree. He remains in police custody with domestic violence related charges expected to follow.
