Four people have been charged with drug offences following a three-month operation in the Northern Territory.

A joint organised crime task force involving Northern Territory and South Australian police targeting a syndicate supplying cannabis made the arrests yesterday.

“Police will allege the syndicate had supplied approximately 460 kilograms of cannabis, and took in excess of $1.185 million from Territorians,” Detective Superintendent Scott Pollock said.

“Yesterday, officers executed a search warrant on a residence in Marrara where they allegedly discovered nine kilograms of cannabis and $69,000 cash.

“Two males aged 50 and 42, and a female aged 50 were arrested at the scene and a 56-year-old female was arrested shortly afterwards, allegedly in possession of $4500 cash.

“Three vehicles and numerous items of paraphernalia associated with the supply of drugs were also seized.”

Investigators will allege the syndicate forms one of the main suppliers of cannabis in the Darwin area and has been responsible for the ongoing commercial supply of cannabis since July 2017.

“Northern Territory Police will continue to target operations who profit from some of the Territory’s most vulnerable people,” Detective Superintendent Pollock said.

All four were charged with possessing and supplying a commercial quantity of schedule 2 dangerous drug and possessing tainted property.

They will appear in Darwin Local Court today.
