Arrest – Stolen motor vehicle and pursuit – Northern Suburbs and Palmerston

Police

The Northern Territory Police Force have arrested three youths in relation to multiple vehicle offences that occurred across Palmerston and the Northern Suburbs yesterday and this morning.

Around 10:40pm Sunday 12 January, Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of multiple stolen motor vehicles across the Darwin and Palmerston areas, as well as reports of vehicles driving dangerously.

General Duties Police were conducting active patrols of the area when a Toyota Hilux was located and recovered in Tiwi with significant damage to the window and back tyre. At this time, an adult female approached police and identified the alleged offenders who fled from the stolen vehicle.

Around 4:40am, General Duties Police engaged in a pursuit of two Toyota Landcruiser Utilities that were driving dangerously through Palmerston before terminating for safety reasons. Both of the Landcruiser Utilities were later confirmed to be stolen.

A short time later, Strike Force Trident and the Dog Operations Unit coordinated a response, and with the assistance of Adelaide River Police tracked both stolen vehicles to the Daly River area.

Tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed on both vehicles, which came to a stop approximately 80km west of Adelaide River.

Three male youths aged 14,14 and 12 were apprehended at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing and charges are expected to follow.
