Call for information – Serious harm – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for information in relation to a serious harm incident that occurred last night in Alice Springs.

Around 9.10pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of armed persons in a carpark on Gregory Terrace in the Alice Springs CBD.

A group of females were reportedly fighting, some armed with edged and blunt weapons. During the disturbance, a 38-year-old female was allegedly struck to the head by a 14-year-old female with a blunt weapon. The 14-year-old offender subsequently fled the scene.

Emergency services responded and found the victim unconscious. She was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment for her injuries and is now in a stable condition.

Police established a crime scene and located and seized the blunt weapon allegedly used.

The 14-year-old offender was located a short time later in Sadadeen and arrested without incident. She has since been charged with Recklessly Endanger Serious Harm – Aggravated (weapon), and will appear in court today.

Southern Investigations has carriage of the investigation and enquiries are ongoing.
