Arrests - Property crime spree - Darwin

Northern Territory Police have arrested multiple youths and one adult after a property crime spree across Darwin this weekend.

Around 2:30am Saturday, Dog Operations Unit (DOU) initiated a pursuit with a confirmed stolen motor vehicle driving outbound on the Stuart Highway. The pursuit was continued on Amy Johnson Avenue before turning on to McMillan’s Road where it was terminated due to public safety.

A short time later, it was reported the vehicle had collided with a power pole on the corner of McMillan’s Road and Muller Road. Police and St John Ambulance attended the scene, and 3 youths were arrested and assessed for injury. One alleged offender fled the scene on foot.

All alleged offenders were treated at Royal Darwin Hospital for their injuries before later being conveyed to the Watch House where they were charged with multiple offences.

Around 5:30am in a separate incident, DOU and Trident received information regarding a stolen Silver MG ZS being driven through Malak. A pursuit was engaged before the alleged offenders abandoned the vehicle on Magdalene Court, Malak.

A coordinated search with DOU and Trident, resulted in the arrest of a 19-year-old male and a 15-year-old female. Both have been charged with multiple offences.

Around 6:05am in a further separate incident, Trident and DOU responded to reports of a Ford Falcon being stolen in Parap. After a swift pursuit, the alleged offenders abandoned the vehicle in parkland on Dalwood Crescent, Malak and fled on foot.

A short time later, Trident and DOU located and arrested 5 male youths aged between 14 and 16. Four of the offenders were dealt with under the Youth Justice Act, a 14-year-old was charged with multiple offences.
