The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested and charged a 55-year-old male following a domestic violence assault that occurred in Alice Springs yesterday morning.
Around 7am, an off-duty police officer from Ntaria witnessed the 55-year-old assaulting his female partner aged in her 40s with a stick on Larapinta Drive. Following investigations, police will allege the offender had also assaulted the victim previously, resulting in burn injuries.
The victim was conveyed to hospital for assessment, and the offender was taken into custody.
He has since been charged with:
- 1x Acts Intended to Cause Serious Harm
- 2x Aggravated Assault
- 1x Breach Bail
A full no contact domestic violence order was served on the offender for the protection of the victim.
The 55-year-old was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court on Monday 14 September.
