Police

Police are investigating two separate events that occurred in Alawa and Palmerston overnight.

Members were alerted to an incident at approximately 1:30 am where it is believed that a 24-year-old male was walking home along Alawa Crescent when he was approached by around five adult males armed with various weapons.

The offenders demanded his wallet and mobile phone before leaving the area.

Another incident occurred at 2:30 am on Lorna Lim Terrace in Palmerston.

It is alleged that a taxi driver collected five passengers from Bagot Road and drove them to Palmerston when he was assaulted.

The 33-year-old male driver received facial injuries, requiring treatment at Royal Darwin Hospital.

The offenders removed a sum of money from the vehicle before fleeing the area.

It is not known if the incidents are linked however Police Investigators will be conducting further enquiries today.
