Police and the Fire and Rescue Service attended a structure fire in Nightcliff last night.

Authorities were called to the Phoenix Hotel on Progress Drive at about 9:00pm last night after receiving reports of flames at the rear of the location.

Upon arrival, authorities observed two motel units at the back of the premises fully engulfed in flames.

Fire and Rescue personnel extinguished the flames a short time later.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious as Fire Investigators have determined contractors using welding equipment at the property have unknowingly caused the fire.
