Wheelchair-bound woman stabbed and robbed –Alice Springs

A 19-year-old woman is being treated in the Alice Springs Hospital after she was stabbed and robbed in Braitling this morning.

The woman told police she was in her wheelchair travelling down a laneway towards Woods Terrace around 11.30am when she was approached by four men. The men asked her for money and threatened to kill her if she refused. One of the men then allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the woman twice in the foot. The men then fled towards the Braitling Oval.

A passerby came to the victim's assistance and called police and an ambulance.

The victim told police the four men were all of Aboriginal appearance and all in their early 20s. The man who stabbed the woman was wearing a blue t-shirt, Rip Curl shorts and had bleached blond hair.

Another of the alleged offenders was wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts. There are no further descriptions of the other two offenders at this stage.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of the Braitling Child Care Centre around the time of the attack to come forward.
