Operation Shiloh - Katherine

Police

Operation Shiloh members have been working alongside Katherine Police over the last two days targeting anti-social behaviour and other offences in the region.

Superintendent Matt Hollamby said the Katherine specific focus had included tracking down offenders wanted on outstanding warrants resulting in thirteen arrests.

“One of those arrested for an outstanding warrant was literally driven into the hands of Police after a car, in which he was a passenger, was stopped. The driver was also charged with drink driving.

“The ‘main force’ of the Operation also assisted some remote area Policing duties including prescribed area patrols and traffic duties.

“This also resulted in two people arrested on alleged unlawful entry matters. These two also had four outstanding warrants between them. Both were remanded in custody to appear in the Katherine Court this week.

“One male was arrested after Officers discovered he was on parole with a non drinking order, but he was drinking at the time Officers called in on him.

“152 litres of alcohol was confiscated and 11 people were taken into protective custody.

“Random breath testing stations were conducted with two positive readings recorded from seventy four tests.  Five traffic infringement notices were also handed out for various offences” Superintendent Hollamby concluded.

The first Territory wide mobile operation continues to move further down the track today to support Police in and around the Barkley region.
