Mataranka General Duty Members have seized a significant haul of cannabis that was destined for the remote communities of Numbulwar and Alyangula.
While conducting a random breath test on a vehicle travelling on the Jilkminggan access road a Police officer noticed a bottle of rum on the floor behind the passenger.
A search of the vehicle was conducted during which officers allegedly discovered a quantity of cannabis inside the glove box.
A 27 year-old female was arrested.
The find included 115 individually packaged deal bags and four larger bags with a total weight of 205 grams.
Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Littman from the Arnhem and Western Division of Northern Command said Police estimate the drugs would have sold for $20,000 to $30,000.
“It was an excellent piece of Police work by Mataranka members in circumventing this supply of drugs which was otherwise bound for Arnhem Land Communities.”
The woman will be summonsed at a later date.
