Public Assistance Sought – Alleged Abduction – Stuart Park

Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad and Sex Crimes Unit are calling for public assistance in relation to an alleged abduction and assault in Stuart Park overnight.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Day from the Serious Crime Squad said Police were called to an incident on Gilruth Avenue at about 12.30am.

“It is alleged that just after midnight, a 25-year-old female was confronted by an unknown male on the Stuart Highway.

“A short time later the alleged offender was driving the victim’s vehicle along Gilruth Avenue when the victim jumped from the moving vehicle to escape,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Day.

“The victim was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.

“The offender is described to be of Aboriginal appearance, approximately 25 to 45 years of age, with a solid build and dark hair. At the time of the assault it is believed he was wearing dark singlet and dark shorts.”
