Detectives continue to investigate the death of a 51-year-old man in Tennant Creek last month.
Detective Acting Superintendent Chris Board said the family has given permission to release his name in order to assist with the investigation.
“Police have identified that 51-year-old Maxie Kelly, from the Barkly region, travelled from Queensland on a bus and arrived in Tennant Creek on 17 September this year.
“We are trying to establish Mr Kelly’s movements after this date and would like to speak to anyone who may have seen Mr Kelly in the Tennant Creek township to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
“Mr Kelly is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, medium build, 170cm tall, with curly hair and grey beard. He commonly wore a red and white cowboy type shirt with dark jeans.”
