Police

Strike Force Trident Detectives have charged two males, aged 33 and 35, with drug and related charges following a search warrant in Wulagi yesterday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said Police were acting on information received.

“As a result of this information a sophisticated hydroponics grow room has been dismantled and a drug distribution ring disrupted.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Bland said Police will allege 10 cannabis plants were being grown in in a converted room and more than 900 grams of cannabis were found in the house.

“Police will also allege they discovered a small amount of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and documents explaining how to cultivate cannabis.

“The hydroponics set-up was also discovered to be illegally sourcing power from the mains supply.

“A vehicle belonging to the 35-year-old man allegedly contained more than $30,000 cash, MDMA tablets and a small amount of lysergic acid.

“A gas gun was also found on the premises and was seized under the firearms act.”

The 35-year-old man was charged with:

-       Possess tainted property – cash

-       Possess a traffickable amount of lysergic acid

-       Possess a traffickable amount of MDMA

The 33-year-old man was charged with:

-       Cultivate a traffickable amount of cannabis

-       Possess a commercial amount of cannabis

-       Possess methamphetamine

-       Unlawful appropriation of power

-       Interfere with power supply equipment

Both men were remanded in custody and will appear in the Darwin Local Court tomorrow, 27 May.
