NT Police advise that public transport services are suspending operations today.

Sealink NT has suspended its ferry services to Mandorah and the Tiwi Islands for today due to the severe weather conditions.

Darwin Bus services will also suspend its operations at midday as the weather continues to deteriorate.

Motorists in the Greater Darwin region are being asked to reconsider their travel needs and avoid taking unnecessary risks on the roads. Authorities are keeping a close eye on Rapid Creek and Adelaide River. Reports are coming in that local waterways around Dundee Beach are rising.

“If floodwaters are encroaching onto roads, do not attempt to cross them,” Regional Controller Commander Brent Warren said.

“We also ask boaters to stay off the water in these rough conditions.”

Nightcliff Jetty has been closed.

Darwin Airport is continuing normal operations, however travellers are advised to check directly with their airlines before attending the airport.

A Cyclone Warning remains in place for coastal and island communities between Point Stuart to Wadeye, including Darwin, Tiwi Islands and Wadeye. A watch zone extends from Wadeye to Kuri Bay in Western Australia.

All watches and warnings for areas between Cape Don and Crocker Island are now cancelled.

Other weather warnings current at this time include a Flood Watch for Northern Coastal Rivers for the Greater Darwin, Darwin Rural area and Cox Peninsula as well as Adelaide River. Marine Wind Warnings are in place for the Beagle Bonaparte Coast, North Tiwi Coast, Van Diemen Gulf, Arafura Coast and Darwin Harbour.
