Charges – Police Officer Stabbed – Maningrida

Northern Territory Police have charged a 19-year-old man with the stabbing of a police officer in Maningrida yesterday.

Serious Crime Detectives travelled to the town following the incident which occurred at the town’s airport about 2.35pm.

The police officer was flown to Darwin, where he received treatment at Royal Darwin Hospital. He was later discharged.

The 19-year-old was charged with:

  • Attempt murder
  • Assault police
  • Endanger occupant of vehicle
  • Criminal damage
  • Possess/carry/use controlled weapon.

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on Monday morning, 10 July.
