Arrest – Assault worker – Alice Springs

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 52-year-old female in relation to an assault and property damage incident that occurred in Alice Springs yesterday.

Around 2:55pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that an adult female was damaging property at an art gallery in the Todd Mall.

It is alleged the offender had been asked to leave the gallery by a staff member aged in her 40s, when she threw a wooden sculpture at the victim, striking her to the head and causing swelling. The offender subsequently damaged several items in the gallery, including smashing a large window, before fleeing the scene on foot.

Police attended and commenced investigations. Around 9:25pm yesterday evening, the 52-year-old was located and arrested on South Terrace.

She has since been charged with:

  • Assault worker – victim suffers harm
  • Damage property
  • Armed with offensive weapon
  • Trespass

She was remanded in custody to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.
