Arrest - Indecent assault - Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 17-year-old male in relation to an indecent assault that occurred earlier today.

At 8.15am, general duties officers conducting a proactive patrol along Gap Road witnessed a male offender indecently assaulting a girl aged between 13 and 16-years old.

The officers immediately responded and arrested the offender without incident.

The offender was subsequently found to be in possession of an edged weapon. He was conveyed to the Alice Springs watch house and is expected to be charged later today.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Janice Kershaw said, “This was a confronting incident that would have been incredibly traumatic for the victim.

“I commend the general duties officers that arrested the offender swiftly and without incident.”
