Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in relation to a domestic violence incident that occurred in a remote community of the MacDonnell Region on Wednesday.

Around 9:50am Thursday, a mandatory domestic violence report was made by a witness following the incident.

Police located and arrested a 20-year-old man nearby.

He has since been charged with aggravated assault and issued with a domestic violence order.

Superintendent Peter Dash said “The offender's behaviour is absolutely reprehensible and will not be tolerated. The woman had sought from refuge from the alleged offender after previous incidents.

“NT Police will continue to target violent offenders, particularly those who inflict violence on people they supposedly care for or are in a relationship with."

Anyone who witnessed the assault is urged to make contact on 131 444.
