A statement from the Acting Commissioner and CEO of the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services

This morning, the Northern Territory Government announced the retirement of Mr Jamie Chalker APM. 

On behalf of the agency, I want to thank Mr Chalker for his commitment and dedication to the women and men of this agency and the community which we all serve.

Mr Chalker’s career as a police officer has spanned over 25 years, earning him a medal of bravery and appointment to multiple leadership positions within the police force. Mr Chalker led this agency through the Territory’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and several natural disasters. 

The NT Government will begin recruiting for the next Commissioner and CEO shortly.

Territorians can be assured that the women and men of NTPFES remain committed to their duties and will continue to serve and protect the community. 

We wish Mr Chalker and his family all the best for the next chapter of their lives.
