The Northern Territory Police Force is calling for public assistance to locate a 29-year-old man who absconded from NT Corrections custody in Alice Springs today.

Around 10:45am, the man absconded from a low security area of the Alice Springs Correctional Centre in Hugh on the Stuart Highway.

He is described as being of Aboriginal in appearance, 170cm tall, with a medium build and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a green shirt/jumper and beige long pants.

Alice Springs police are actively looking for him and he is urged to return himself into custody as soon as possible.
