Arrests – Stolen motor vehicles – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested three youths in relation to a stolen motor vehicle in Alice Springs last night.

At 8:50am, two stolen vehicles were sighted in the Alice Springs CBD driving dangerously.

A stolen red Triton utility collided with a Nissan sedan on the Stuart Highway near the CBD. Three male youths were apprehended and one youth fled the scene. The driver of the Nissan sedan did not suffer any serious injuries.

Two 13-year-old males will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.

A 15-year-old male was charged with:

  • Unlawful use of a motor vehicle
  • Serious breach of bail

He is expected to appear in court on 5 January 2023.

The stolen Subaru Forester was recovered later in the night after being abandoned on Dixon Road.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Rob Kent said “Strike Force Viper members and general duties will continue to tirelessly apprehend offenders who put the safety of the wider community at risk.

“We continue to urge the community to report any incidences of crime on 131 444 or in an emergency 000.”
