Charges – Aggravated robbery – Darwin/Palmerston

Police

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 27-year-old man in relation to three aggravated robberies.

Police allege that on 27 October 2020, the man used an edged weapon to threaten and steal money from a 25-year-old driver in Parap.

The same man allegedly threatened and robbed a taxi driver in Driver, also using an edged weapon, on Thursday 13 January 2021.

In the early hours of Saturday 15 November, the man allegedly used an edged weapon again to rob a 29-year-old man who was sitting in his car outside a venue in Palmerston.

Detectives from the Crime Division and the Territory Response Group apprehended the man on Sunday evening.

He will be charged with three counts of aggravated robbery.

He will likely be remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on Monday morning.

Detective Acting Superintendent Mark Malogorski said, “This was excellent investigative work by Crime Division detectives, Territory Intelligence and the Territory Response Group working together that led to this man’s apprehension for serious crimes. Aggravated robbery carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and this is an excellent result towards keeping the NT community safe.”
