Police seeking witnesses to alleged road rage - Darwin

Police

Northern Territory Police are appealing for witnesses to an alleged road rage incident this morning in Ludmilla just before 8am. Police are particularly interested in anyone who may have dash cam or other video footage of the incident.

Reports received by police indicate that the male driver of a white Mitsubishi Triton was turning right onto Bagot Road from Totem Road. At the same time, a black Audi convertible was travelling inbound on Bagot Road in the lane next to the median island.

The driver of the Triton was unable to immediately merge from the right-turn lane onto Bagot Road because of the traffic flow. Once merged, it is alleged the driver then followed the Audi at a dangerous distance before changing lanes and drawing parallel to the Audi. He then allegedly steered the Triton into the Audi’s lane, making contact with the vehicle.

The force of the contact pushed the Audi partially onto the median island, along which it travelled, narrowly missing trees before coming to a stop after approximately 66 metres, close to the United service station.

Police believe the driver of the Triton then left his vehicle and approached the female driver of the Audi, allegedly aggressively accusing her of being at fault. He then left the scene.

Detectives from the Major Crash Unit have since identified the male driver and seized the Triton. Luckily, no injuries were reported.
