Charges – Unlawful use of Motor Vehicle - Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged a 21-year-old male in relation to a series of offences dating back to 17 December 2016.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said that the offender was involved in three separate offences involving stolen vehicles.

“Police allege that on 17 December the offender, in the company of co-offenders, stole a Toyota Landcruiser wagon from a carpark,” he said.

“The offender crashed the vehicle on Undoolya Road, before fleeing the scene.

“Police also allege that on 3 January, the offender, along with co-offenders, broke into a business and stole a white transit bus and attempted to ram the door of another business to gain entry.

“On 5 January it is alleged the offender, along with co-offenders, stole a Ford Ranger and rammed a business in Northside, stealing various items. The vehicle was recovered by Police.

“On 9 Jan, the offender was located. During the arrest he assaulted a police officer.”

He was charged with:

  • Aggravated unlawful use motor vehicle (x4)
  • Damage property (x3)
  • Drive unlicensed (x2)
  • Trespass
  • Attempted unlawful entry
  • Unlawful entry - building
  • Stealing
  • Assault police

He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Court today.
