Charges Alcohol into Restricted Areas Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have charged a 66-year-old male and a 31-year-old female for taking alcohol into a restricted area.

Acting Superintendent Pauline Vicary said that Police seized a vehicle and a quantity of alcohol in accordance with the Northern Territory Liquor Act in Alice Springs.

“Police apprehended the vehicle entering into a town camp at 5:45pm yesterday.

“The female, who was also driving unlicensed, was subjected to a breath test which returned a positive low range reading,” Acting Superintendent Vicary said.

She was charged with:

  • Drive low range blood alcohol content
  • Drive a motor vehicle while disqualified
  • Bring alcohol into a restricted area

She was remanded to appear in the Alice Springs Local court today.

The 66-year-old male was charged with:

  • Bring alcohol into a restricted area

He was given a notice to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court.

“Alcohol is a significant contributor to domestic violence assaults and anti-social behaviour in Alice Springs and our remote communities. Police in Central Australia will continue to target persons bringing alcohol into Alcohol Protected Areas, this includes seizing vehicles used for that purpose,” Acting Superintendent Vicary said.
