Northern Territory Police are again reminding Territorians about the dangers of rock throwing after two more incidents across the northern suburbs overnight.

Acting Senior Sergeant Tanya Mace said a taxi was the first to be targeted.

“The driver was travelling into the airport on Osgood Drive about 11pm when he was targeted,” she said.

“The car suffered damage to both the front and rear passenger doors.”

The offenders could not be located.

A/Senior Sergeant Mace said about the same time, Police were called to respond to reports of rocks being thrown at a residence in Tiwi. The offender had left the area before Police arrived.

Since mid-November, Police have received 67 reports of rock throwing across the Darwin and Palmerston area – including seven reports from Karama and nine from Leanyer.

“Throwing rocks shows a total disregard for the safety of the public,” A/Senior Sergeant Mace said.

“Rock-throwing attacks have killed innocent people interstate, and it’s not something we want to see in the Territory.”
