Police are seeking public assistance in relation to a vehicle fire that occurred in Katherine early yesterday morning.

Detective Sergeant Ian Young said Police received a report at around 1:00am that a vehicle parked at a unit complex on the Victoria Highway was on fire.

“Fire crews attended and extinguished the flames. The vehicle sustained extensive damage as a result of the fire and  fortunately no one was injured.

“Police are treating the fire as suspicious and detectives from the Northern Investigation Section are investigating.

“Police urge anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or anyone who may have any further information to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
