A 49-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Yirrkala on Friday night.

“Police allege that the man struck his 47-year-old sister with a heavy wooden implement at a residence during a domestic dispute,” Detective Acting Superintendent Chris Board said.

The man has been remanded in custody and will appear at Darwin Magistrates Court this week.
