Northern Territory Police Sex Crimes Detectives have charged a man following an attempted sexual assault in Nakara early this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Manley said around 1:20am, a woman residing in Nakara found an unknown man in her bedroom. 

“It is alleged the man assaulted the woman then attempted to sexually assault her. The victim has managed to fight the offender off before he fled.

“Later this morning Police arrested a 27-year-old Karama man and charged him with gross indecency, aggravated assault, unlawful entry and depriving a person of liberty. He will appear in court later today.

“The victim reacted very bravely in the circumstances and is recovering from the ordeal at home with support.

“If any person has information or saw any suspicious activity in Nakara during the night or early hours of the morning, please call Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” Detective Senior Sergeant Manley said.
