Drink Driving Offences – Alice Springs

NT Police apprehended five people in relation to drink driving offences in Alice Springs last night.

Sergeant Conan Robertson said four of the five drivers were apprehended in residential areas of Alice Springs.

“A 31-year-old male was apprehended on Woods Terrace, at 10.41pm and returned a breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) of 0.126 and was disqualified from driving.

“A 45-year-old male was apprehended in the area of Schwartz Crescent at 12.40am and returned a BrAC of 0.215 and was unlicensed.

“At 1.53am on Barrett Drive, a 37-year-old male was stopped for a breath test, he was arrested for a breath analysis that he failed to complete.

“At 4.39 am a 25-year-old male was stopped as he slowly drove through the gap with his indicator on to capture Police attention. He returned a BrAC of 0.184 and was disqualified from driving.

“Finally at 6.23am another male, 36-years-old was apprehended in the area of Schwartz Crescent and was later found to have a BrAC of 0.202 and to be disqualified from driving.
“It is a concerning for Police that these people were willing to put themselves, pedestrians, motorists and other road users at risk by choosing to drive while intoxicated.

“Alice Springs Police will continue to remove these dangerous people from our roads and to ensure all road users are safe,” Sergeant Robertson said.
