Domestic Violence Offenders Arrested - Alice Springs

Alice Springs Police have arrested three males in relation to domestic violence offence against their partners.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said Police allege a 27-year-old man allegedly assaulted his partner on three separate occasions between the end of April and beginning of May.

“Police arrested the male on 9 May and charged him with aggravated assault (x3) and issued a Domestic Violence Order.

“He will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates court today.

“In a separate incident Police arrested a 17-year-old male for allegedly assaulting his partner on two occasions earlier this month.

“Police allege he struck her several times, attempted to stab her with a pair of scissors, and chopped off part of her hair.

“He was charged with aggravated assault (x2) and armed with an offensive weapon (x2) and will appear in court at a later date.

“Police also arrested a 22-year-old male wanted in relation to the assault of his partner last year. Police allege the offender assaulted his 21-year-old partner three separate times and struck her with a stick.”

He was arrested by Police over the weekend and charged with aggravated assault (x3), armed with an offensive weapon and engage in a conduct that breaches a Domestic Violence Order.

“Domestic Violence will not be tolerated and Police will continue to target those people who hurt their loved ones,” Detective Superintendent Warren said.

“The nature and extent of domestic violence in Central Australia remains completely unacceptable and Police make no apology for targeting this outrageous offending.

“People need to think carefully before putting themselves in a situation where they assault their loved ones and become perpetrators of violence, because they will get arrested.

“We continue to encourage members of the public to take a stand against this unacceptable behaviour and report all acts of domestic violence to the Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
