Methamphetamine Seized - Alice Springs

Alice Springs Police have seized a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine and charged a 42-year-old woman with drug offences following a search warrant yesterday.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said Detectives from Strike Force Vega and the Dog Operations Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Gillen.

“Police located and seized 4.28grams of methamphetamine and a small quantity of fireworks.”

The woman was arrested and charged with:

Possess a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine

Supply a dangerous drug

Possess an instrument to administer a dangerous drug

Administer a dangerous drug to self

Possess fireworks outside of permit.

She will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court on 30 October.

“Police will continue to target people who deal in drugs and it is only a matter of time before these individuals are caught,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Phillips said.

“Taking any illicit drug is dangerous. These drugs are not produced under pharmaceutical conditions and people have no idea what they are ingesting.

“Methamphetamine alters your mood and behaviours and you are putting life at risk if you consume drugs like these.
