Assault Charges - Howard Springs - Update 2

Serious Crime Detectives have today arrested a third man, aged 27, in relation to an aggravated assault in Howard Springs on 6 August.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Tony Henrys said during the assault, it is alleged that the 29-year-old victim was struck with baseball bats, threatened with a firearm and attacked by a dog.

"Police conducted a search warrant on a residence in Howard Springs on 21 August and located and seized seven firearms, a vehicle, a commercial quantity of cannabis, a less than trafficable quantity of methamphetamine, approximately $55,000 in cash and other weapons," said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Henrys.

"Two other men have already faced court in relation to the serious violence offences."

Further enquiries have resulted in the arrest of the 27-year-old man, who has been charged with: 

Intend serious harm – cause serious harm

Armed robbery causing harm

Aggravated assault (x1)

Make a threat to kill a person (x1)

Damage to property

Armed with offensive weapon

Dangerous Dogs – attack person

"Investigations are ongoing and Detectives would like to speak to two males aged in their mid to late 20’s who were at the Howard Springs address around the time of the assault."

The 27-year-old has been remanded in custody and will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on Friday 12 September.
