Aggravated assault arrest - Alice Springs

Police

Alice Springs Police have arrested and charged a 30-year-old man with aggravated assault and breaching a domestic violence order (DVO).

Superintendent Brent Warren said assistance received from the Cross Border Domestic Violence Intelligence Desk made the arrest possible.

“Information between the jurisdictions on this alleged offender has made it possible for Police to follow his movements between South Australia and the NT.

“He will also be charged with breaching his DVO in SA.

“Police will allege that the 30-year-old male assaulted the victim by striking her with a rock.

The male followed the victim to SA where it is alleged he subjected her to verbal abuse, harassment and intimidation.  When the victim has returned to Alice Springs the man has followed her back.

“The information received from colleagues in SA has enabled NT Police to be on the lookout for this person.  The Cross Border DV Intelligence Desk was then able to track him to a location in Alice Springs.

“He was arrested in Alice Springs yesterday, was remanded in custody and will face the Alice Springs Magistrates Court on November 21,” Superintendent Warren said.
