A 43 year-old man has been charged with distributing child abuse material following a search warrant at a Darwin residence yesterday.
Senior Constable Donna Stewart from the Online Child Exploitation Unit said 10 data storage devices were seized and would be forensically examined by the Computer Crime Unit.
“Police will allege the man has been using social media to distribute the images.
“People need to understand that the children in these images are being repeatedly victimised every time this material is viewed or sent on to others.
“The Online Child Exploitation Unit will use every resource at our disposal to pursue and prosecute those who deal in this appalling material.”
The man has been bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on the 10th of July.
