Woman arrested for cannabis possession Ngukurr

Officers from Ngukurr Police Station have arrested and charged a 37-year-old female for drug offences following a search conducted yesterday.

Superintendent Danny Bacon of the Arnhem and Western Division said local Officers attended the Ngukurr Boat Ramp around 4:00 pm on Wednesday to conduct routine checks for illegal substances being brought into the community of Ngukurr.

“As a result of this, Police located a green shopping bag containing 210 grams of cannabis,” Superintendent Bacon said.

“If sold on the streets of the community, this could have sold for up to $25,000.

The woman made admissions to owning the cannabis with the intention of supplying the dangerous drug in Ngukurr Community.  She was subsequently arrested and charged with possess dangerous drug (trafficable quantity) and unlawfully supply cannabis to another.

“This is another great win for the community of Ngukurr in reducing the supply of cannabis into their community. Slowly but surely the message is getting through to would-be offenders.”
