Police

Police are calling for witnesses to the robbery of two tourists aged 25 and 29, which occurred in Rapid Creek on Tuesday 12 June.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board of the Serious Crime Squad said the couple was seated in their vehicle at a car park on Casuarina Drive, near the Rapid Creek footbridge, when approached by a man in a vehicle shortly before midnight.

“The man exited the vehicle, produced a large knife and demanded money from the two,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Board said.

“A small amount of money was handed over before the alleged offender fled the scene, towards Trower Road, with the vehicles headlight’s deactivated.

“The vehicle is described as a large, dark coloured four wheel drive wagon. The alleged offender is described as tanned, between 175-180cm tall and of thin build. At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark coloured long sleeved jacket, dark blue jeans, a baseball cap and a dark coloured scarf across his face.

“Police would like to speak to the driver of this vehicle, who was seen driving through the Casuarina Trower Road intersection around the time of the incident.

“Police also urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may recognise this man, to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
