Two Men Charged for Drug Offences - Winnellie

Two men have been arrested following a drug bust in the carpark of a Winnellie hotel.

Sergeant Mark Stringer of the Drug and Organised Crime Section said members followed up on investigations and conducted a search on a vehicle parked behind a hotel yesterday.

“A number of items were seized during the search, including seven grams of methamphetamine in seven separate bags and $3,800 in cash,” Sergeant Stringer said.

“A further search was conducted on a nearby residence, where Police located further drug paraphernalia.”

A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged with:

  • Receive property – commission of offence
  • Supply schedule 2 substance
  • Possess schedule 2 substance – trafficable
  • Possess/carry/use a prohibited weapon
  • Drive unregistered motor vehicle
  • Drive uninsured motor vehicle.

A 24-year-old man was also arrested. He was charged with:

  • Possess methamphetamine
  • Posses thing – administer dangerous drug
  • Drive disqualified
  • Drive unregistered motor vehicle
  • Drive uninsured motor vehicle.

Both men will appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court at a later date.

“Police are actively targeting suppliers of dangerous drugs and welcome any information from the public that could assist with identifying drug dealers,” Sergeant Stringer said.
