Stealing with Violence Offences -Darwin

Serious Crime Squad Detectives are investigating two incidents that occurred in the Darwin area overnight.

In the first incident a 34 year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a group of males in the vicinity of the Parap water tower after leaving a local hotel at about 1.30am this morning.

The victim was knocked unconscious after being hit from behind and allegedly punched and kicked several times.

His wallet and mobile phone were stolen.

In the second incident a 22 year-old male was approached by two men while walking down the Esplanade at around 4am this morning.

The allegedly asked for a cigarette before knocking the man to the ground and stole his wallet and a gold chain.

Detective Senior Constable Shannon O’Connor said both incidents were of concern to Police and public assistance would be appreciated in finding the offenders

“Anyone who may have seen anything in the Parap area at the time or anyone who may have witnessed either incident is urged to contact Police on 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

“The two offenders on the Esplanade are described as being of Caucasian appearance.  One was wearing a red t-shirt with the ‘Nike’ name and logo on the front in white writing.  He was wearing a pair of denim jeans.  His co-offender was also of Caucasian appearance and was wearing a beige top.

“Anyone who saw people matching this description in the city last night is urged to contact Police.”
