Police currently have a 46-year-old female in custody assisting with enquiries following a stabbing that occurred in Coconut Grove this morning.

Detective Sergeant Isobel Cummins of the Major Crime Section said that some time after 7:00 am this morning, it is alleged that the 45-year-old male victim and his 46-year-old partner had an ongoing altercation.

“Police attended the scene near the corner of Totem Road and Dickward Drive and located the victim with a puncture wound to his chest. We believe the couple had been in the area since around 7:00 am,” said Detective Sergeant Cummins.

“St John Ambulance officers conveyed him to Royal Darwin Hospital where the male remains in a critical but stable condition.

“Police urge anyone that may have been in the area at the time of the incident to call them on 131 444. Any assistance from the public would be greatly appreciated.”
