Search underway for missing man - Alice Springs

A search is underway for a man who went missing after becoming separated from his family in Redbank Gorge.

At about 4.40 pm yesterday, 62-year-old South Australian man Michael Kenny was reported missing at Redbank Gorge, approximately 25 kilometres west of Glen Helen Resort.

Senior Sergeant Darrell Kerr said Mr Kenny had been hiking with his family when he became separated from them.

“His family searched the area for a few hours yesterday afternoon before contacting Police for further assistance.

“A helicopter search of the area was conducted yesterday until night fall with no sighting of the missing man.

“A land and air search utilising Park Rangers, Hermannsburg Police and NT Emergency Services personnel continued today. The man’s son is assisting emergency crews at the location,” said Senior Sergeant Kerr.

Michael Kenny is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 180 cms tall, approximately 80 kg and of a medium build. He has blue eyes, light brown hair going grey. He was last seen wearing a black shirt with some sort of print, khaki coloured cargo shorts and dark coloured thongs.

Anyone who may have seen the missing man, or who may have information about his whereabouts, is urged to contact Police on 131 444.
