Prisoner Back in Custody Tennant Creek

Police

Tennant Creek Police have taken into custody a man who walked out of the unfenced Barkly Work Camp at the weekend.

Acting Superintendent Craig Barrett said the 22-year-old, who has been missing since Saturday night, handed himself into the Tennant Creek Police Station this afternoon.

“The man handed himself in at around 3pm and Police subsequently arrested him,” Acting Superintendent Barrett said.

“It’s expected that he will be charged later today in relation to leaving the Work Camp.”

Acting Superintendent Barrett thanked the community for their help.

“It was a very good result for Police in partnership with the community in locating this fellow,” he said.

“NT Police would like to thank the community for providing information and for assisting Police to find the man.”

It’s expected that the man will appear in court in Tennant Creek tomorrow.
