Serious Crime Squad Detectives have released a image of a man believed to have been responsible for an armed robbery near the Wharf Precinct.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board said it was reported that a 45-year-old woman was walking down Hughes Road when the incident occurred at 10:00 am yesterday.

“The victim stated that an unknown man emerged from bushland when she reached the intersection of Hughes Road and Kitchener Drive,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Board said.

“The man has then placed a large knife against the victim’s throat and demanded her handbag.

“A struggle ensued, which resulted in her receiving a laceration to her left forearm which later required stitches.

“The offender is described to be of Aboriginal appearance, in his late twenties with a slim build. He is said to have a very dark complexion, short dark hair and stands around 167cm tall.

“At the time of the offence he was wearing a dark v neck t-shirt and dirty black pants.

“The man ran off without any property towards the CBD. I urge anyone who may recognise this man, or who may have been in the area at the time, to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
