Police Recover Thousands of Dollars in Stolen Items Palmerston

Three women will appear in court after NT Police recovered thousands of dollars in stolen goods and found drugs at a home in Palmerston.

The Officer in Charge of the Palmerston Tactical Team, Superintendent Rob James, said Police arrested the three women, 22, 21 and 20, at the weekend.

A fourth person is currently assisting Police with their investigations, Superintendent James said.

“Police allege the three played a part in the theft of more than $10,000 worth of electrical equipment from a telephone sales outlet at Palmerston Shopping Centre,” Superintendent James said.

“We allege the trio were partly responsible for the theft of 18 mobile telephones and a Dell tablet on Saturday.

“We allege the three were working as part of a team distracting staff and then stealing items.”

Officers from the Palmerston Tactical Team attended a house shortly after the theft on Saturday where 15 of the 19 items of stolen property were allegedly located, Superintendent James said.

While Officers were at the house they also found a quantity of drugs and drug implements, he said.

“Police located 54.9 grams of cannabis inside bags and 13 cannabis seeds,” Superintendent James said.

The three were charged with:

Stealing property from shop;

Unlawfully possess property;

Possess cannabis trafficable quantity;

Possess thing to administer dangerous drug;

Posses dangerous drug (cannabis).

 

The 20-year-old was also charged with:

Administer dangerous drug to self.

 

The trio was bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on 2 April.
