Acting Commander of the Ethical and Professional Standards Command, Lance Godwin advises that a 35-year-old male Police Officer has been suspended from duty and will be summonsed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court to face criminal charges.

“A criminal investigation commenced following an allegation that the member had improperly obtained a sum of money from a financial institution in November 2011.

“The allegations do not relate to his duties as a Police Officer.

“As a result, the member has been summonsed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on 29 March where he will be facing two fraud related charges.

“The Police Officer has been suspended from duty today” Acting Commander Godwin said.

There is no further identifying information or details available while the internal investigation continues and this matter is now before Court.
