Methamphetamine Seizure

Police

A 35 year-old man and his 27 year-old wife will front the Darwin Magistrate Court this morning charged with the Possession of a Commercial Quantity of a Schedule 2 Dangerous Drug and Possession of Tainted Property.

Drug and Organised Crime Detectives executed a search warrant at a property in Darwin’s rural area as part of Operation Scorpion on Friday, February 17th.

During the course of the search officers located two packages that were found to contain a total of 601 grams of a substance that Police will allege is methamphetamine.

Drug paraphernalia including a cryovac machine were also seized.

Detective Acting Superintendent Andrew Pusterla said the drugs had a potential street value of $960,000.

“This is a significant seizure.  People who distribute illicit drugs are always a priority for the NT Police.  We will continue to target and pursue criminals who profit from the drug trade.”

Operation Scorpion was established to directly target the distribution and supply of methamphetamines in the greater Darwin area.

Anyone who has information about someone who is profiting from the supply of drugs is encouraged to contact Police on 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
