A 39-year-old man has been summonsed to appear in court after being found in the possession of a Taser and a small amount of drugs.

After receiving information, Police conducted a search on a premises in Katherine East and located a Taser and 30 grams of Kronic.

A/Superintendent Gavin Kennedy said it will be alleged that the man claimed to have purchased the Taser overseas recently.

“NT Police would like to remind Territorians not to consider purchasing prohibited weapons whilst overseas, on-line or through the mail. Not only are they dangerous when used by untrained people, they are also illegal for members of the public to possess, even if not intended for use.”

The man will appear in court at a later date to face charges of possess a prohibited weapon and possess dangerous drug.
